LinuxChix at Software Freedom Day magie member 4 posts | Saturday, Sep 27, 2008, 2:11 PM
LinuxChix Philippines took part in the Software Freedom Day celebration last September 20, 2008. More than 500 attendees flocked to the National Computer Center building at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City for the whole day affair.
A booth was allotted to LinuxChix by the organizers, Bluepoint Linux Users Elite (alumni of Bluepoint Foundation) and Commission on Information and Communications Technology (under the office of the President). There were a lot of inquiries and sign-ups for membership throughout the day. The press also took interest in what LinuxChix is all about.
New members from different IT colleges in Luzon received lots of freebies. They expressed interest in contributing to the official launch of the exclusive chix LUG next year.

Fedora 9 - The Sulphur Release magie member 4 posts | Friday, Jun 6, 2008, 7:39 PM
"The Fedora Project has announced the release of Fedora 9, codenamed Sulphur. As your periodic table will tell you, Sulphur is the element below Oxygen, a fitting release name for the third major distribution to ship KDE 4.0 (congrats to Mandriva and Kubuntu for getting there first) and the first to make it the only version of the desktop. Fedora 9 includes KDE 4.0.3."

Hi everyone,
It's been a while since we started our membership at LinuxChix Philippines. Since we really haven't met yet as a group either virtually or physically, I thought that my organization's anniversary celebration can be a good jumping board.
I am working with Bluepoint Foundation, a non-profit IT organization that aims to advocate and promote Open Source through trainings, seminars, research and development.
I hope to meet you all for lunch at Bluepoint, Kilosbayan House, First Street, Acacia Lane, Mandaluyong City. Kindly RSVP in this mailing list or through Irene at 534-1077.
See you in a week!
Regards,
Magie |
